First edition; folio (36 x 23 cm); portrait frontispiece and 49 copper-engraved plates, small burn hole in the title slightly affecting the imprint, light spotting and toning of contents, a little heavier to the early and late leaves; contemporary speckled calf recently rebacked to style, new endpapers, spine gilt in compartments, black morocco labels, edges marbled, binding worn and scuffed, very good condition; 237 pp, plus 7 and 45 pp appendices.
