Papineau's Guide to Hong Kong

The first edition of this guide was published a year earlier in 1969. Papineau had previously published successful series of guides including Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Bali This colourful and practical guide published during the travel boom years of the 1960's and 70's, rarely appears on the market and is relatively scarce. The two large scale maps cover Kowloon and Victoria. The colourful illustrations give a real sense of the 1960's period.

Aristide Joseph Gustav Papineau ( 1915 – 1998) was the founder and director of a prominent advertising agency in Singapore and a guidebook writer. He closed the advertising agency down in the 1960s but continued to publish travel guides until 1979 when he sold the rights to another company. (Wikipedia)

Small 8vo ( 18 x 13 cm), 184pp, two large coloured folding maps, numerous illustrations in colour, adverts with colour illustrations, promotional bookmark inserted, previous owner's biro notes on page 184; publisher's original pictorial colour card binding, upper board slightly warped; overall a very good copy.
