This cover was issued by Baedeker to enable travellers to carry just part of their guide. The handbooks were originally designed to be taken apart for ease of travel particularly for mountaineers and walkers. A previous owner has inserted part of the French Baedeker La Suisse covering The Grisons.8vo, publisher's red cloth gilt with pocket at end for map; ( 420-502pp, numerous maps and plans from La Suisse) inserted into cover held in place by attached ribbon, previous owner's inscription on front endpaper; a very good copy.
