Lord Raglan's copy. Fitzroy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan (1788-1855) commanded the British expeditionary forces sent to the Crimea following Britain's declaration of war in April 1854. It was Raglan who issued the fateful order to Lord Lucan that led to the Charge of the Light Brigade, and whose failure to capture the Redan during the siege of Sevastopol the following year contributed to his untimely death, 'the victim of England's unreadiness for war' (Sir Evelyn Wood).

The map shows Bessarabia to be a Russian dependency, suggesting a publication date before the Treaty of Paris in 1856.
