The first Bernd & Hilla Becher catalogue published by a gallery, issued to accompany their first exhibition at Sonnabend, New York, February 24-March 18, 1972.

Ileanna Sonnabend was first introduced to the Bechers' work through Eugen Michel's publication Bernhard und Hilla Becher / Anonyme Skulpturen / Kunst-Zeitung No 2 (1969). That same year Dusseldorf-based dealer Konrad Fischer featured the Bechers at Art Cologne and distributed copies of Kunst Zeitung free for visitors to take. It was here that Ileana Sonnabend first encountered the Bechers' work when given a copy. Sonnabend was so enthralled with the images she pursued the artists and consistently supported them from the 1970s to 1990s, representing their work. Sonnabend's support led to further introductions to American minimal and conceptual artists including Carl Andre, Sol Lewitt, and Robert Smithson.

Exhibition catalogue; (145 x 102 mm, 5¾ x 4 in); accordion-bound, comprises five grids of nine photographs with locations on the verso, lower panel lightly rubbed, near-fine; [12]pp.
