Jules Clerjon de Champagny (1795-1870) was a captain during French invasion of Spain in 1823, nicknamed the "Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis" expedition, that restored Ferdinand VII to the Spanish throne.
First edition; 8vo (20.2 x 13 cm); text in French, 40 hand-coloured lithograph plates by Langlume after the author, with half-title, unobtrusive stamp to title; contemporary half calf, marbled boards, gilt decorated spine with contrasting gilt lettering piece, extremities slightly rubbed, lettering piece a little chipped, small split to upper headband but hinge still firm, otherwise a very good copy; [6], 118, [2]pp.
