A first edition, fourth impression of the first and most popular of the seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950-1956), with illustrations by Pauline Baynes. Much of the story takes place in Narnia, a fictional place of mythical creatures and talking animals ruled over by the White Witch, in a permanent state of Winter. Published in 47 foreign languages, TIME magazine included this title in its 'All-Time 100 Novels'.
