General Sir David Scott Dodgson (d.1898) served in the Bombay Army nearly all his life and would have served under Outram during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. This was the only work the produced and it scarcely appears on the market.
First edition; folio (57 x 38 cm); 27 tinted lithographic views on 11 sheets, engraved map, lithographic title trimmed and mounted, dedication leaf restored with silk, discreet book-seller's ticket to front pastedown and discreet book-binder's ticket to rear; publisher's original blind-stamped cloth, gilt lettering to upper board, spine expertly restored, a very good copy.
