Exptionally good, attractive copy of the first edition in a contemporary binding. 'As a political tract, a portrayal of sick minds, and a study of the manipulation of groups, "The Possessed" remains Dostoevsky's masterpiece' (Terras).

First edition, 3 vols bound in one, 8vo; with half-titles, very minor scattered foxing; contemporary half Russian sheep over pebbled cloth, title in gilt to spine, ownership of 'Timofeev' at bottom of spine slightly rubbed out, corners bumped and extremities rubbed, a near fine copy.
