The Secret Garden.

A bright copy of a book that has become increasingly difficult to locate in good order. This edition was preceded by an American one printed earlier in the same year, illustrated ably by M.B. Kirk but not in the same league as the illustrated edition of Charles Robinson. Kirk's drawings were swiftly generally discarded in favour of those first printed in this Heinemann edition.

First U.K. edition; 8vo (208 x 155 mm.); title printed in red & black with vignette and decorative border by Charles Robinson, colour frontispiece and 8 colour plates by Robinson, each with captioned tissue guard, pictorial endpapers also by the illustrator, 6 final advertisement pages, unnamed bookplate to front free-endpaper verso, neat ownership signature of J. May Bramwell July 1912 to the half-title; publisher's gilt-decorated green cloth, some slight marking to covers, spine ends a little bumped, slight foxing to endpapers but overall a very good copy.
