This anthology was compiled and edited by Laura Valentine, best known by her pen name 'Mrs. Valentine' and the author of numerous Victorian children's books.

8vo (20 x 14 cm); prize bookplate to front pastedown, minimal foxing to prelims, otherwise very good internal condition; full brown pebble-grain morocco with central 'Bradford Modern School' insignia in gilt to upper boards, double fillet border in gilt and blind, spine gilt in 6 compartments with gilt lettering to second, minor wear to extremities, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, very good; xiv, 533 pp.
