The Koran, commonly called the Alcoran of Mohammed

George Sale (1697–1736) was a British orientalist and lawyer. His translation of the Qur'an, first printed in 1734, was the first of it's kind to have been translated into English directly from Arabic and has since become a landmark text in Qur'anic studies. This new edition includes a large folding map of the Arabian Peninsula, a table of the 'Tribes of the Genuine Arabs', table of the 'Tribes of the Naturaliz'd Arabs', table of the 'Tribe of Koreish' and a plan of the temple of Mecca (provided as two views).
