Antonio Carafa (1646-1693) was a General Commissary of the Imperial-Habsburg Army—the highest rank in the Austrian military hierarchy at the time. He also held various other high-ranking offices, including military governor of Upper Hungary and later royal commissioner of Transylvania.
First edition; 4to (25.9 x 19.7 cm); title printed in red and black, engraved portraits of Antonio and Adriano Carafa designed by Giovanni Stefano Maia and engraved by Giuseppe Magliar, engraved headpieces, tailpieces, and initials, scattered light foxing, slight offsetting, light marginal soiling; contemporary full vellum, spine lettered in manuscript, covers and spine slightly marked, light wear to extremities, blue speckled edges, overall a very good firm copy; [16], 501, [1]pp.
