8vo (20.3 x15 cm); edited by Tikhonravov, with a biography by Shenrok, illustrated with two portraits engraved by Brockhaus in Leipzig, two facsimile manuscripts and three sketches after Gogol, first quire loose; bound in contemporary quarter dark red morocco, spines gilt with raised bands, 'Gogol' embossed in gilt to upper cover of each vol, a fine set.
