Elizabeth, Countess Russell's copy
Greene's scarce second book, which derives its title from a snatch of Hamlet's famous soliloquy, 'With this regard their currents turn awry / And lose the name of action.' The author was dissatisfied with the work and, as with Rumour at Nightfall, disowned it and prevented it from being reprinted.First edition, first impression; 8vo; bookplate of Elizabeth Russell to front pastedown, two subsequent ownership inscriptions to front free endpaper, slight toning to textblock; publisher's dark blue cloth, titles to spine gilt, corners bumped, with the first issue dust-jacket, priced 7/6 on spine panel, somewhat tanned dust-jacket with traces of internal repair, otherwise a very good copy.
