A fascinating view of the Stari Most (old bridge) which was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1557 and designed by Mimar Hayruddin, a student and apprentice of the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. Known in Turkish during the Ottoman occupation as Mostar köprüsü), the bridge, which spanned the Neretva river as it flows through Mostar, stood for 427 years until destroyed in 1993 during the Bosnian war. It was subsequently restored and reopened in 2004.
