presentation copy
presentation copy inscribed to artist and filmmaker Zoe Beloff:'Zoe – it was so nice to / meet you again (via your / mother! [Halla Beloff]– I'm glad / your work is going well. / Hope you enjoy this little / screed from London – let's / keep in touch. / Love / Jo / 1987.'
Laid in is a typed note signed H (presumably from her mother Halla, a psychologist who wrote about photography), informing Zoe that the British Film Institute (BFI) has started distributing short films and suggesting that Jo Spence may be able to help and that they may be interested in Zoe's films, which include Nightmare Angel (1986) an apparently unauthorised adaptation of J. G. Ballard's Crash (1973) which precedes David Cronenberg's film by ten years.
First edition, inscribed in black pen on first page; (229 x 168 mm, 9 x 6½ in); illustrated with black-and-white photographs; illustrated adhesive-bound wrappers, toned and lightly worn, typed note on yellow paper laid in, a very good copy; 224pp.
