This edition was 'built on Herbert Grierson's authoritative 1912 edition of the poems to bring Donne through numerous reprints to a wide audience' (ODNB), and was the first to offer Donne's poetry and a large portion of his prose together in a single volume.Limited edition, number 242 of 675 copies; 8vo; small vignette to title page, title page and headings within grey decorative border; original turquoise morocco by Best and Co., gilt lettering to spine, spine sunned, inner dentelles gilt, top edge gilt, spine sunned, endpapers slightly browned at extremities (as often), otherwise a very good copy in the somewhat rubbed original slipcase.
