The second edition of John Evelyn's Memoirs following the edition published the year prior, spanning his adult life from 1640 to 1706, the year he died. Ex libris of the celebrated Romantic poet, Samuel Rogers.

Second edition; 2 vols, second volume in two parts, 4to (30.5 x 24.5 cm); engraved portrait frontispiece to both vols, three more engraved portraits, five engraved views (one folding), folding plan, folding genealogical table, lightly toned and foxed as usual, small loss to lower gutter margin of preliminary leaves in vol. 1; full contemporary calf, rebacked preserving original spine, spine gilt in six compartments, ornate gilt rolled boards, inside dentelles gilt, all edges gilt, extremities a little rubbed, corners gently bumped, later endpapers with Samuel Rogers' bookplate, original endpapers preserved, contemporary inscription to vol. 2; [1], xxviii, 671; v, [3], 342; [2], 336pp.
