The turn of the century issue of this impressive world map focused on trading routes. A.K. Johnston first issued his global commercial map in 1848, at the height of the British Empire. This issue, fifty years later, includes more magnifications of different areas including the Suez and Panama, and reflects the changes in the major shipping lanes and trade routes of the twentieth century.

Lithographed folding map printed in colours, 140 x 180 cm, in two sheets; publisher's full faux morocco, gilt lettering to upper cover, gilt turn-ins, a very good copy.
