An attractive Afsharid Qur'an, with a dedication to Nasrollah Mirza.Nasrollah Mirza was an Afsharid prince and the son of Nader Shah of Persia (r. 1736-1747), the founder of the Afsharid Dynasty. Nasrollah was a talented military leader and led successful missions during the Battle of Karnal and the Perso-Ottoman War (1743-46).
Single volume, illuminated manuscript on paper, in Arabic, complete, 254 leaves, single column, 18 lines black naskh, surah headings in red, fihrist at the front and two double carpet pages at the front and back of the volume, opening of the text of the Qur'an with gilt head-pieces and borders decorated in spiraling gilt vines with accents in red and blue, some light soiling, stains and thumbing, catch-words throughout; bound in contemporary lacquered boards, covers painted in floral designs, re-backed, housed in contemporary brocade cloth slip. 118 x 75mm (4¾ x 3 inches).
