This original miniature is inspired by Moses and the Shepherd, one of the most celebrated stories from the Masnavi of Rumi. While drawing upon the spiritual message of Rumi's narrative, the artist developed the composition through the visual language of Persian miniature painting.

The work reflects their experience in studying and copying various schools of Persian art. Elements inspired by Qajar Gol-o Morgh painting, Timurid and Safavid illumination, and traditional Persian geometric patterns (gereh-chini) have been combined within an original composition. Their aim was to create a painting that remains rooted in the aesthetics of classical Persian miniature while expressing the timeless themes of devotion, sincerity, and the relationship between humanity and the Divine found in Rumi's story.

Single illuminated painting on paper, gouache, watercolour, 23 ct. shell gold & Persian ink, heightened in gold, 21 x 30cm; framed & glazed.
