Dutch diplomat and explorer, Van der Meulen, gives an account of Ibn Sa'ud from his exile in Kuwait to his becoming the founder and first king of Saudi Arabia. The author deals with the discovery of oil and its impact on an ancient, largely nomadic, civilisation.
