the 'monogram' edition
A handsome copy from deluxe 'Monogram' edition of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, so named for the author's gilt-stamped initials to the upper cover. Produced as the first "collected" set, issued after publication of the final Christopher Robin book, The House at Pooh Corner (1928), the text block and Shepard illustrations are taken from the concurrent trade editions but presented in special leather bindings.[The 'Monogram' edition, ninth edition overall]; 8vo (190 x 130 mm); illustrations and map endpapers by E.H. Shepard, brown satin page-marker, occasional minor spot or mark to margins else very good plus; publisher's full brown leather with gilt initials 'AAM' within decorative geometric device and rule borders to upper covers, spines with gilt designs after the original editions, gilt edges, slightly rubbed with minor marks, minor wear to spine-heads but overall very good plus; [xiv], 159pp.
