Composed in the second century AD, Plutarch's biographical work remains an important source of the lives and careers of leading figures from Greek and Roman history, from Alexander the Great to Julius Caesar, and Demosthenes to Cicero, recording events and anecdotes that do not appear in other contemporary accounts.
