The 'Narrative' by Sir Moses Montefiore with an open letter addressed to his by the Jerusalem Rabbis on the occasion of his seventh, and final, arrival to Jerusalem.

The first is an open letter addressed to Sir Moses Montefiore written by the Jerusalem Rabbis Meyer Auerbach and Samuel Salant, asking to fund a building of a new Synagogue and Beit Midrash out of the walls of the old city. The letter presented in Hebrew and English, printed on opposite sides of the book. It describes in detail the living and educational conditions of the Sephardi and Ashkenazi communities in the 1870s Jerusalem and praising Montefiore's support of oppressed Jewries.

The second work, written in English only, is by Sir Moses Montefiore himself, with the very descriptive title, also relating to the first work's subject:
A Narrative of a Forty Day's Sojourn in the Holy Land, devoted to an investigation of the state of schools, colleges, and charitable institutions. Given to the friends and well-wishers of Zion, by Sir Moses Montefiore Bart., F.R.S., on his return from his seventh pilgrimage to the Land of Promise.

This second edition was published two years after the first.
