Rare early map of the young state of Israel published by the London-based periodical, The Jewish Chronicle, shortly after the Declaration of Independence of the Jewish State of Israel on 14 May 1948, but before its admission to the United Nations on 11 May 1949. With cartography by Alexander Gross, F.R.G.S., this map captures not just the geographical details of the region but also the proposed borders of the nascent State of Israel following its declaration of independence.

Folding map, printed in colour (68 x 97 cm), housed in original green printed wrappers (spine and corners rubbed), small tears to map at fold corners.
