Earliest English account of El Dorado
A beautifully printed edition of Walter Raleigh's account of his 1595 journey to Guiana, now part of Venezuela. Although providing much factual information, the work is probably best known for promulgating the legend of El Dorado.4to (26.5 x 20 cm); edition limited to 975 copies on Japon vellum, portrait frontispiece and 2 maps; publisher's original vellum backed cloth boards, gilt medallion to upper cover, bumps to lower corners, a very good copy; cvi, 182 pp.
