Queen Victoria.

This first edition was published to coincide with the Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubliee, the author was the Queen's librarian at Windsor Castle and the plates were chosen to illustrate her domestic life.

First edition; 4to (33 x 26 cm); hand-coloured lithographed frontispiece with gilt decorations, 40 plain lithographed plates (of which 22 full-page) with captioned tissue-guards, spotting to some pages, though not affecting legibility of text, browning to half-title and final leaf, else good; later half red morocco over pink cloth boards lined in gilt, gilt crest to upper board, spine in 6 compartments lined, lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, a little offsetting to edges, some general signs of wear to extremities and joints, very mildly faded to edges of cloth boards, else very good; 201pp.
