Thomas Mawer, is as yet to be identified, but the inscription from Frost is very specific in indicating the book was a personal gift to Mawer in 1938, who in turn, gave it to relatives in 1961.Over 70 of the poet's most well-known poems, including such gems as; Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening; Home Burial; The Tuft of Flowers; The Road Not Taken and many, many more.
Third edition inscribed on the upper free endpaper; 'For Thomas Mawer/from his guest/ Robert Frost/ January 18 1939'; a further gift inscription, dated 'June 10 1961/ With Love to Bob & Marjorie/ from Uncle Tom', would indicate the book was then passed on from the original recipient; 8vo (223 x 150 mm); publisher's blue cloth-covered boards, facsimile signature of the post, in gilt on upper cover, printed dust-jacket with photographic portrait of the poet on the upper panel, somewhat dust-soiled and worn with chips and tears but totally unrestored, unclipped and original, toning to blue endpapers with a chip to the lower ends of the inner joints but still firm, internally near-fine.
