Cistus species are upright evergreen shrubs, having mostly pink or purple flowers, which resemble roses. This book is a practical guide to cultivating these beautiful plants and is highly esteemed amongst gardeners. Robert Sweet, (1783- 1835) was a well known English botanist and horticulturist of the nineteenth century and is often described as the "first practical botanist". (Wikipedia).
