Two articles relating to the Endurance expedition from April and May. The first relates the fate of the Aurora, as received by telegram on April 4. The second, dated 8th of May, reveals that the society nor the British Government had heard any news of Shackleton and the Endurance, and relays fears for their safety. Little did they know that very day Shackleton had sighted South Georgia Island in the James Caird, and only a couple weeks later would reach the Argentinean whaling station at Stromness and his salvation.

First edition; 8vo (24.5 x 16.5 cm); numerous maps and plates but none relating to the articles in question, University of Liverpool stamp to title; publishers blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine, touch of rubbing to extremities, spine a little faded, a very good copy; 369-376; 467-468pp.
