Inscribed to Marcus Adams (1875-1959), noted photographer who contributed one of the plates and met the author on her travels, with two signed letters between the two discussing the photograph used in the book.

Clare Sheridan (1885-1970) was equally famous for her travel writings as for her bust sculptures, especially of her cousin Winston Churchill.

First edition; 8vo (22 x 15 cm); signed presentation inscription to frontispiece and 2 mss notes by the author to text, loosely inserted 2 ALS, 18 plates including coloured frontispiece; publisher's original orange cloth, green lettering to spine, a little soiled, a very good copy; 384 pp.
