Krasnodar, Kubokrlit, 1925.
The bulletin opens with a poem from the local Cherkess author, Kazbek Abubachirovich Mishuriev on the third anniversary of incorporating the whole of Caucasus into the USSR. Executed for political reasons in the late 1930s, Mishuriev was active in Krasnodar in 1920s, publishing his best-known book 'Kalym. The story from Cherkess life' in 1926. He also contributed to local periodicals and authored a number of non-fiction texts, such as 'A Historical and Economic Survey of the Adyghe Autonomous Region' which was published in 1923.
Also included is an important article by Grigoriy Kryzhanovsky which covers Adyghe writing systems. There was a dilemma with which script to use as since the 1860s six different systems had been used and there was a push to chose between Latin, Cyrillic and Arabic for languages of the Caucasus.
First edition, issue 1 (all published), one of 100 copies, tall 8vo (26.6 x 17.4 cm); photographic reproductions throughout; original publisher's printed wrappers, slight age toning to wrappers, small repairs to top and bottom of spine; 147pp., contents leaf, very good copy.
