First edition thus (vol. one), the rest first editions, first impressions; 5 vols, 8vo (230 x 150 mm); light offsetting to endpapers of vol. one, ownership stamp to front free endpapers of vols 2-4, else unmarked internally; publisher's blue, brown, green, grey-green, and yellow cloth, gilt and black lettering to spines, some discolouration to extremities (more so to vol. 5), with the unclipped pictorial dustjackets, Newbery Medal to jacket of second vol., slight toning and dust-soiling to rear panels, moderate edge-wear to first 2 vols with tape repairs to top edges of front panels, else very good.
