Weston (1861-1940), is regarded as the father of mountaineering in Japan. It is largely due to him that Japanese Alpine Club was created. The first edition published in 1896 was considered an "Important ouvrage... très recherché" - Perret. This facsimile reprint of the first edition is almost as scarce as the first edition.
Facsimile reprint of the first edition; 8vo; 27 photographic illustrations, 2 coloured folding maps, 8 text illustrations; publisher's original light blue cloth gilt, device to upper cover; a very good copy; xvi, 346pp.
Neate W45; cf. Perret 4546 (first edition).
