Horace Hayman Wilson (1786-1860) was the first professor of Sanskrit at Oxford, and produced numerous studies of Sanskrit including this attampt at complete survey of early Indian drama with translations of six complete plays and short accounts of twenty-three others.

Third edition; 2 vols, 8vo (22 x 15 cm); contemporary half calf, cloth boards with gilt crest to upper boards, spines in six gilt compartments with gilt morocco lettering pieces, all edges marbled, a little worn, a very good copy; lxxi, 384; iv, 415, [2, errata] pp.
