The first UK edition, printed the same year as the first American, of Bertrand Russell's (1872-1970) great work on the philosophy of language.

The book represents the culmination of a series of lectures Russell gave on 'Language and Fact' at the University of Oxford in 1938, which in turn formed the basis for seminar courses delivered by Russell at the universities of Chicago and UCLA over the subsequent two-years prior to publication.
