Signed by the author . Photographs taken by Beaton while Official Photographer for The Ministry of Information: from Beggars to Marharanies.

A fine association copy. 'When war was declared I knew myself to be incapable of filling any regular service job. Fortunately, Hugh Francis [Controller of Photographs] of the M. of I. [Ministry of information], at the suggestion of Sir Kenneth Clark, saw fit to employ me as a photographer' (The Best of Beaton, 1968).

First edition, inscribed by Cecil Beaton to Hugh Francis, 4to., [106]pp., 100 full-page black & white photographic plates, slight age-toning and minor dust-soiling to half-title, otherwise near-fine, modern half morocco over original boards, all edges gilt, a very good copy.
