My Family and Other Animals.

Gerald Durrell was a writer, conservationist and television presenter who focussed on wildlife and natural history. He was born in British India and spent much of his life in Jersey where he founded the Jersey Zoo in 1959. At age 10, in 1935, his family moved to Corfu where they spent four years before having to return to the UK due to the outbreak of WWII. This time served as the groundwork for his book, My Family and Other Animals wherein he recounts the various animals they lived among and the characters they encountered which inspired his future in conservation.
