Variant issue with publisher's slip. This edition was originally issued in 1936 for the Berlin Olympic games. However this copy is a later issue of the same edition as the endpapers are dated "August 1938".
Most town plans show squares, streets or bridges renamed under the Nazi regime. The publisher's slip regarding the Germanisation of the name of the town Saarlouis to Saarlautern is present in this volume on page 284. Very rare in this condition.
Sixth edition. lii, 524 pp, 33 maps, 75 plans and one large street map in rear pocket, publisher's slip on p.284; publisher's variant coarse grained binding, gilt lettering bright, publisher's pictorial dust-jacket, tear to front cover (with no loss); overall a very good copy.
