This copy presented to the astronomer Andrew David Thackeray (1910-1978) in December 1925 whilst a student at Eton College for the Problem Prize. Thacerkary went on to read mathematics at King's College, Cambridge. Hew as later director of the Radcliffe Observatory at Oxford for 23 years.
8vo (18.5 x 13 cm); prize inscription in pen to front free endpaper recto; contemporary tree calf by Bickers & Son, gilt spine in 6 compartments, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, marbled edges, minor wear to extremities, the odd mark to covers, very good; xix, [1], 1083, [1]pp.
