First edition; 2 vols, 8vo (23 x 15.5 cm); 43 plates, 10 maps (1 large folding at end), discreet contemporary owner's inscriptions to front endpapers and half-titles; publisher's original dark green cloth, gilt pictorial vignettes to upper covers, gilt lettering to spines, a few small nicks to cloth with one small pinhole to spine of vol. I, one small hole to lower board of vol. I, upper inner hinges a little weak, a very good copy with gilt still bright; xxiv, 639; xii, 653 pp.
