Illustrated with 6 engraved plates of key events in the city's history, from the Peasant's Revolt to the Great Fire of London, and 66 heraldic woodcuts, which closely follow those in Delaune's Present State of London published in 1681, showing the arms of the City, Merchant, and Livery Companies.
With provenance for the MP and railway entrepreneur Sir Edward Watkin (1819-1901), who attempted to build the first channel tunnel, and the literary collector Alexander Gardyne (d.1885).
